What do you get when you cross a rabbit and an elephant? Rabbit, elephant, sin theta!
If you chuckled at that joke and are still reading this sentence, then this blog might be for you. I intend for this blog to contain posts on what I’ll call recreational data science. This includes analyses of publicly available data sets, experiments with data visualization and data wrangling, and solving math problems related to data science. Cheesy jokes will always be welcome, too.
A key motivation for working on this blog is learning. There are many new ideas and technologies in data science (as well as old ones that are new to me) that I’d like to gain experience and familiarize myself with. Doing so in a public forum like a blog will allow me to share that experience with others. Maintaining a regular blog will also provide an opportunity to practice informal technical writing.
The blog is built with Quarto, which provides an easy way to integrate Python and R code with text in a variety of publishing formats. The source code for the blog is available on GitHub in this repo. While developing this blog, I read the Quarto documentation and other tutorials on creating Quarto websites and blogs, such as this post by Albert Rapp and this post by Sam Csik.
